Metropolitan United Church, Community Services is located in downtown Toronto. We serve those in the community who are homeless, or in need of other types of assistance. We provide help with obtaining and maintaining affordable housing, emergency financial assistance, and a variety of other supports and services such as counselling services, a community drop-in centre, a food cupboard, and a clothing room. The Met Community Services Team consists of four permanent staff members (Bill, Mike, Doreth, and Rowena—pictured here), a number of very dedicated volunteers, and an Outreach Committee. Together we are trying to assist those in need, and fight homelessness.
This year we suffered the unfortunate loss of Rob Udell. Rob was our previous Director of Community Services. He was an inspirational leader for all of us, and dedicated his life to helping those in need. Rob was also an avid runner, and it is in his memory that our team has decided to undertake the Scotiabank Charity Challenge.
Met Community Services is a small organization and, as a result, relies heavily on private donations to keep these programs running. We are also hoping to raise some much needed funds for our programs, and of course, have some fun.
We welcome all those who are interested in joining us to honour Rob and run on September 28th. We will also gratefully accept donations and sponsorships. On behalf of all our Community Services staff and volunteers, we thank you very much for your kindness and support.
