You can make a real difference by supporting a world class recreation, athletic and performing arts facility fully accessible to all persons with varying degrees of abilities and challenges. The Abilities Centre, to be located in Whitby, will include a field house which will contain a walking/training track, full size courts suitable for wheelchair basketball, goal ball (blind), volleyball and movement education classes as well as a fitness facility, therapy rooms, life skills, art and music programs, performing arts components and much more. The Abilities Centre will facilitate total barrier free access to active living in the nation's largest municipal sports complex (Iroquois Park Sports Centre). By focusing on developing "abilities", the Abilities Centre will enhance dignity for children, youth and adults who will be stakeholders in a facility that welcomes and indeed hosts everyone.
By joining the Abilities Centre team, you will help fund equipment for a much needed Life Skills area to be implemented at the facility – providing a wonderful opportunity to improve the quality of life for thousands of people in our community.
The Abilities Centre will cover the registration fee for the run for each participant who raises $200 or more! To sign up for our team, please contact Jennifer Ayotte, at info@abilitiescentre.org or by phone at 905-665-8500. By joining our team on September 28th, you can help make a real difference in the lives of many people in your community.
